Pileup

You are the DX station and everyone is calling you. Copy a callsign, send it back, and work as many stations as you can. Send ? to ask for a repeat.

The Climb

Climb the mountain one word at a time. Words get longer and the clock gets shorter as you go up. Three slips and the climb is over. Easy and Hard for both.

Pileup

How Pileup works

Stations call you with their callsigns. The callsign is never shown until the contact is done. Send it back to work them. They answer TU, and the next one calls.

Didn't get it? Send ? and they call again. Got part of it? Send that part with a question mark, like K5? or ABC?, and only the stations that match call again. If you say nothing, they call again on their own after a few seconds.

Game mode. You get 3 chances for each caller: their first call, and two repeats. Asking with ?, a wrong callsign, or letting them repeat on their own each uses a chance. When a caller runs out of chances, they give up. On Hard, three callers giving up ends the game. On Easy you get five, there is more time to answer, and if you send a callsign that is off by one character, the caller sends it again once without using a chance. Every 4 contacts on Hard, or 6 on Easy, you go up a level: the spacing tightens first, then the speed goes up, the callsigns get harder, and the band gets noisier. A contact is worth 3, 2, or 1 points on the first, second, or third chance, times your level.

Practice mode. No score and no game over. Pick a preset or set it up the way you like.

Game mode starts at the speeds above. Callsigns start easy (US and Canada) and get harder as you level up.

Each caller gets a random speed between the slowest and fastest. Make them the same for one steady speed. With a set effective speed, characters come at full speed with extra space between them.

The Climb

How The Climb works

Each word you get right is one step up the mountain. Words start short and common, then get longer and less common. The clock for each word gets a little shorter as you climb.

Hear it plays the word in code, and you send it back. See it shows the word, and you send it. A wrong letter means start that word again, while the clock keeps running. Easy gives you about twice as much time and stays on short common words longer. If the clock runs out you lose a life. Three lives, and the climb ends where you fell.

In Hear it, send ? to hear the word again (the clock keeps running). With the keyboard, type the word and press Enter. Speeds come from the settings above and stay the same the whole climb.

Press Start climbing when you are ready.
